I only know of one purpose for this stuff and thats to use it in SGFC's as a base/water store. If done correctly it will draw air up through the perlight to create a humid environment for mushrooms to grow. I'm on my first trial so too early to tell whether I've done it correctly or not. Time will tell!

Its quite dusty stuff, but put bag into my shotgun fc, in the bath, then filled bag with water using shower (this suppresses most of the dust) then emptied out the bag into my tub. Bingo! you can allow to drain in the bath and lightly fluff up with hand before moving to your grow area. Worked perfect for me

Very handy to order just the amount you need for your purpose.
Excellent water retaining purposes.
Perlite is volcanic rock, so is quite dusty when you get it out. If using for a shotgun fruiting chamber, I'd reccommend you wet it first before putting into your monotub, else this stuff goes EVERYWHERE as it's very dusty and I suspect not very good for your lungs when inhaled. Either that or use it outdoors with good ventilation.
The leftover amount I had I mixed with soil and used to plant some plants, good to keep soil aerated and moist.

I've been using this in my shotgun fruiting chamber to hold the moisture and keep the humidity up. How much do I need and are there any other uses for this stuff as I think I ordered too much.
